About Huancayo:
Huancayo is a modern
city with more than 30 000 citizens; it is only 300 km. far from Lima.
It is the capital of Junín and it is located in the fertile valley of
Mantaro River, which has a significant rural population. Huancayo has
the principal covered shopping center of Peru. Every Sunday, all the
valley’s towns make a small public market where they sell their
handicrafts. Both, tourists and Peruvians, think that this market is a
very nice activity. Between their main products, you will find for
example the weaving of sweaters and other embroideries, ceramics, wood
sculptures as well as mates burilados (carved pumpkins).
