Laguna de Apoyo:
Apoyo lagoon is the
biggest Nicaragua's lagoon, its name, Lake "Alt-poyec", means "Healthy
Water" and derives from the kind of its water. Apoyo lagoon gives
hospitality to many species of animals and plants, some of this are
endemic of Nicaragua and it preerve the most part of its natural
resources. The lake is clear throughout, perfect for scuba
diving, and has abundant fresh fish life. The volcanoes of Nicaragua's
Pacific Slope, running from Cosiguina in the extreme northwestern
corner of the country, to Ometepe Island in Lake Nicaragua, constitute
more than just smoldering peaks. Several of these remnant volcanoes
contain lakes in the cones, each of them unique ecosystems, with
special aquatic wildlife and beautiful landscapes. The largest,
cleanest and clearest of these lakes is Laguna de Apoyo.
